It is becoming increasingly important that we use things that are kind to our planet, teach our children to appreciate natural products, which are friendly to themselves and their environment.

These soft, cuddly toys are made from an unbleached woollen fabric, natural cotton and sometimes natural linen, and are stuffed with wool, all of which meets ISO 9000 standards.

They have been tested in UK laboratories and meet the stringent toys standard EN71 and are CE marked.

Great care has been taken with the design of our Ecochums soft toys to ensure safety and enjoyment by the child (or adult) who plays with them. They have embroidered features to prevent any accidents and give maximum assurance of safety when given to young children.

Although made from superwashed new wool, they come within the 'Pilling' allowance as required by the EN71 standard.

As they are however made from superwashed new wool, we advise caution as a small percentage of children have a wool allergy and so we advise not giving these wonderful soft toys to babies under 6 months.

They are hand washable at 30ºC - DO NOT USE FABRIC CONDITIONERS.

We also have a range of Thermatherapy, Staywarm Toys, these have a secret! Inside each one is a little cotton bag which contains cherry stones which can be heated either in a microwave or traditional oven. Just perfect for those cold days, for any aches and pains or as a waterless hot water bottle.

This bag can be placed on a suitable tray in a clean microwave or traditional oven to heat it. (The idea of warming bags with cherry stones in them comes from Switzerland where this method of aches and pain relief has been known for a long time.)

Heat in a 600Watt microwave for 1 minute and in a conventional oven at 150°C for 10 minutes.

When the bag has reached the desired temperature remove from the oven using oven gloves, put the bag back inside the toy and hold while heat permeates through the wool.

Once heated the bag will keep warm for up to 45 minutes - Perfect for those cold days for aches and pains or just as a warmer.

Sadly, all toys eventually have to go to the big toy cupboard in the sky and Ecochums are a 'Loop Product' because they are biodegradeable and so can be returned to the earth via composting.
